10 June. The Icefield Parkway to Jasper

If you have watched the TV show "Ice Road Truckers," then you have already vicariously seen some of the Icefield Parkway.  In summary it's a ribbon of asphalt dwarfed by endless majestic, rugged peaks many of which harbor glaciers.  Okay, once again.  It's breathtaking.  It's amazing.  Add this drive to your bucket list.  Our photos do not do it justice.  They are but a few samples of the awe around us.

The glacier on the left is "Crow Foot."

Mistaya Canyon was a magical slot canyon where melted glacial water has spent millions of years eroding the rock into sculpture.

We stopped at Athabasca Falls, another magnificent place we might have missed except for the presence of a geocache to provide impetus for a detour.

We stand next to some interpretive signs that are memorials to some idiots who somehow fell into the morass and died.

When we got to Jasper, Mary and I saw this bull elk munching on grass in a neighborhood.
